How it works

1. You answer 4 questions

Your group, the exam language, the date of your appointment and your minutes per day. StaatsPass builds the daily plan up to exam day.

2. You take the short diagnostic

12 timed questions in 10 minutes show where you stand area by area, with no account and no card.

3. You practise and you simulate

Short sets per area with every option explained, then the full 2-hour simulator with the areas and timings of your group.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is the EAG?

The Épreuve d'Aptitude Générale lasts 2 hours in every group and is taken in French or German. It measures abstract, verbal and numerical reasoning, situational judgement, and depending on the group planning as well as control and accuracy.

How much time do I have between applying and the exam?

GovJobs sets the appointment at least 5 days after your application and at most 10 days after the vacancy closes. Apply early and you often have well over 10 days: the StaatsPass plan fills every one of them.

Where do I find official sample tests?

GovJobs no longer provides sample tests. The free StaatsPass mini-test shows you the formats straight away, and the 2-hour simulator reproduces the areas and timings of your group.

How is a pass calculated?

Each test is graded from 1 to 9 and you pass with an average of at least 5. Results arrive the next working day. Inside StaatsPass your results speak of correct answers, time, recurring errors and progress per competency.

How many attempts do I get?

After a first failure a second participation is authorised. After the second failure the wait is 12 months. A pass stays valid for 12 months, exactly the length of your StaatsPass access.

Do I practise in French or in German?

In both, at no extra cost. You pick the exam language at the start and switch whenever you want. The interface, the plan and the explanations exist in French, German, English and Luxembourgish.

What happens after payment?

You land straight in your plan. 1 minute for your group, your language, your date and your minutes per day, then the first set starts. Pay by card or Bancontact, immediate access, 12 months.

Who has to sit the EAG?

Candidates for Luxembourg State posts in groups A1/A2, B1/C1 and C2, fonctionnaires and employés de l'État alike since the reform of 15 September 2026. Candidates for the Police grand-ducale sit the EAG of their post group, A1/A2 or B1/C1.
